North Norfolk Vikings Swimming Club lifted the Charles III Coronation Cup at a junior gala in Dereham by a decimal point. Whilst the club cannot remember the last time they won a gala trophy three North Walsham Swimmers will remember their first ever Viking medals for a life time.
James Laws bagged three medals. The 10 year old won a gold in the 50m backstroke in 50.55 and then achieved two silver freestyle medals. The 50m in 45.02 and then the 100m with 1.44.67 respectively.
Amelie Cutting saw gold for the first time when she scored 40.93 over 50m freestyle and there were more medals to come over this same distance. A bronze in the backstroke (47.62) and another bronze in the butterfly (54.07) respectively. Turning then to 100m butterfly the 10 year old took silver in 1.55.33.
Amelia Hudson had two freestyle success. The 11 year old was rewarded with two bronze medals. In the 100m with 1.25.91 and the 50m in 39.32 respectively.
Sam Reynolds – Gotts won his second clutch of medals for the team in his second Viking gala. He got off to a head start by winning gold over 100m breaststroke in 1.01.49 and then followed hat trick of silvers all over 50m. In the 50m backstroke with 49.05, 50 freestyle in 41.77 and finally the 50m butterfly touching in 50.91.
Meanwhile, three more North Walsham swimmers also achieved medals. Anna Turner continues to strike gold and what a year she is having. In her first 100m backstroke event, the 11 year old bagged a gold in 1.25.27 and followed it up with another in the butterfly over the same distance in 1.30.66.
Siblings Finn and Layla Callaby had every reason to be pleased. Finn achieved two gold medals. In the 100m breaststroke with 1.57.96 and then swam all strokes to take his second gold over the same distance for the Individual Medley with 2.00.69. Then came another double and the colour was bronze. The 50m freestyle ( 43.23 ) and on the same stroke, he went 1.38.84 for the 100m respectively.
There was a silver lining for his elder sister who achieved three silvers. The 13 year old achieved them all over a 100m. In the Individual Medley she finished on 1.31.25. and the other two silvers were for the breastroke (1.48.77) and the freestyle (1.15.48) respectively.
