Coach Sam Smashes Regional Masters Record
Lead Coach Sam smashed the Eastern Region 800m freestyle record at the Crawley Competition with a winning time of 10.46.78 for his age category. The record stood for eleven years at 11.48.45
Ironically although he swam in adjacent lanes to other swimmers he was the only swimmer in this category so Sam decided to swim against the clock. Sam’s swim was the fourth fasted over all out of a field of 27 competitors from all the different categories combined.
“When I saw the previous record, I knew I could have a good go at braking it when I entered . After the swim I realised that I had broken the 800m long course record by 1 minute, 2 seconds.” explained Sam when he proudly displayed his gold medal.
